Cat Lady No. 256...Party Animal Turns Five

Skeezix the Cat was just three months old when Cat Lady Karen (aka Food Lady) brought him home as a surprise for her Feline Fella Jeff (aka Mr. Tasty Face).

Skeezix, who was almost hairless and often cold, began wearing sweaters with the help of the Food Lady. His penchant for pink and the Food Lady's love of photography soon made Skeezix a famous feline fashionista of the cat world.

Food Lady is a wildly talented writer, photographer and artist, and in no time at all her young apprentice showed great promise at the computer. Skeezix began helping the Food Lady write The Cat's Meow-- Catster's blog for cats and kittens, AND writing his very own blog: Skeezix's Scratching Post.

So it is with great love and adoration that the Food Lady and Mr. Tasty Face join with great friends like Shabby and Katie Tulip and angel Kalin in wishing Skeezix the Very Happiest of Birthdays!

Congratulations to Cat Lady Danielle, who also just happens to be Cat Lady No. 122! Her name was drawn at random and she is the winner of the September Giveaway No. 1. Thank you to everybody who participated!

Cat Lady No. 193...Fun and Games July Giveaway

Black Cat Licorice loves to be carried around by Cat Lady Alex.

Licorice also loves Christmas. His favorite holiday activity is pulling little candles off the Christmas tree and then batting them around the floor (unlit of course!). Every year the Cat Lady finds candles in the strangest places, such as under the refrigerator and in the sliding glass door track. Licorice will sit patiently next to the tree waiting for the Cat Lady to put the candles back on the branches so he can--what else-- pull them off all over again!

Does your cat have a favorite game?

If so, please share it with us in the comments section below and you will be entered to win a fabulous Cat Lady prize. Contest ends the evening of July 31, and not one, but THREE lucky Cat Ladies (or Lads!) will each win one of my new Peaceable Kingdom matted prints (your choice of text or no text) suitable for framing. Names will be drawn at random. Please make sure that I have a way to contact you if you are a winner such as a link to your blog or e-mail address, or contact me directly at my e-mail with your info...Also, if you encounter trouble with the Comments feature, you may send your entry by e-mail by clicking "view my complete profile" at the end of "About Me" where you will find an e-mail link...

Cat Lady No. 99...Easter Secrets

Cat Lady and High School Cafeteria Dietician Jordan adores HoneyBunch, her Calico Persian Fluffball. Both are watching their waistlines by eating sensible, lowfat diets. Except for this week.

Jordan has a deep dark secret that only Fluffball knows: The dietician has a weakness for Peeps. When preparing the Easter baskets for the grandkids, filled with whole grain carrot muffins and actual carrots, she also includes a generous assortment of Peeps, to the delight of the youngsters. What the grandkids don't know is that only about half of the Peeps ever make it into the baskets.

Jordan's secret is safe with Fluffball. You won't hear a peep out of her...

Cat Lady No. 62...A Lost Art

Cat Lady Grandma Nancy and her Feline Friend Beauregard often enjoy watching Masterpiece Theater together during quiet evenings at home...also a perfect time for Nancy to catch up on her correspondence.

Nancy and Beauregard believe that the art of letter writing on paper with pen is something of a lost art, and Nancy is doing her best to keep it alive. She takes great pride in her penmanship and even took a calligraphy class so that she could embellish the addresses on the outside of the envelopes.

She plans to enter the Graceful Envelope Contest, sponsored by TheWashington
Calligrapher's Guild and hopes you will too.

For inspiration, here are some fantastic examples of last year's entries: 2008 Winners

Cat Lady No. 43...Special Delivery

Cat Lady Jovanna is delighted to receive a very special Valentine, just delivered by Cupid Cat Caprice. The Valentine came all the way from Italy, from Jovanna's grandmother in the Tuscan countryside.

Caprice's feathers aren't the least bit ruffled after such a long flight all the way to Brooklyn, but nevertheless she is delighted to be offered a bowl of cream as a thank you.

While Caprice enjoys her treat, Jovanna regales her guest with a few favorite Valentine jokes that her 7-year-old twins brought home from school:

What do you call a very small Love Letter on February 14?
A Valentiny.

What do you call two birds in love?
Tweethearts.

What does Farmer John give his wife on February 14?
Hogs and kisses.

What did the boy octopus say to the girl octopus on Valentines Day?
I want to hold your hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand!

Thanks for visiting!

Cat Lady No. 31...Pastels and Peachy Keen

Cat Lady Johanna is just crazy for pearls, pastels, and Peachy Keen, her ginger-peach-orange-marmalade tabby cat.

Johanna and Peachy are city girls and a bit pampered, but Peachy sometimes longs for just one sunny afternoon of frolicking through wind-blown wild grasses where flitting and skittering things might be lurking.

Her favorite blog is written by The Ginger Darlings, Elm
o, Maurice, and Pixie--three lucky ginger cats who live in the countryside of St. Davids, Pembrokeshire, Wales. You can enjoy their cat tales here: wethreecats.blogspot.com.

They have fabulous adventures and then sleep a lot. Their Cat Lady has been busy illustrating what looks to be a fabulous story book and you can find out more here: Starlight, Starbright

Thanks for visiting!

Johanna and Peachy Keen can be found on a variety of Valentine postcards (pictured), note cards, postcards, t-shirts and other gifts at: www.cafepress.com/SusanFaye

Cat Lady No. 16...Terrific Tabby Tamer

What could be more fun than an armful of tiger kittens?

Cat Lady Tanya has her hands full with Cat Mom Tabitha and her litter of tabby kittens, just adopted from the local shelter. As Tanya often says, "Don't delay, neuter or spay"...
Luckily for these kittens, Tanya will lovingly care for them until each one has a new home.

Out of curiosity, Tanya looked up "Tabby" on the internet, and was surprised to learn that Tabby doesn't refer to a breed of cats, but to the particular pattern of markings on any given cat with stripes or spots. In fact, quite a few recognized breeds include the tabby markings.

And Tanya further discovered that within the category of "Tabby" there are quite a few variations of the patterns with exotic names like "agouti (ticked)", rosetted", "mackerel", "marbled", and "classic".

Tabbies also come in many color variations: brown, blue, red (really more of an orange...), cream or silver.

If you would like to learn more, here is an interesting article that Tanya found:
The Glorious Tabby

Do you know a Tabby Tamer? They just might enjoy a refrigerator magnet from my gift collection. You'll find magnets and other great gift items with this design at my CafePress Gift Shop.

Cat Lady No. 14...Jenny and Allie

Lap Cat Allie likes nothing better than to curl up with Cat Lady Jenny to hear a good story. With a Master's Degree in Library Science, Jenny loves all things book-, grammar-, and language-related.

Allie Cat loves all things mouse- or flamingo-related. The love of mice? Allie's mom was a champion mouser at the farm where Allie was born. The love of flamingos? When Jenny adopted Allie and moved her into her new home, there was not a mouse in sight! What else could Allie do but play with the beautiful pink flamingo beanie baby which, if pounced on just so, skitters across the floor like a fat little mousie!

The PURRfect
way to carry all of your books, or pink flamingos...These 100% cotton canvas tote bags have plenty of room to carry everything you need when you are on the go. They include a bottom gusset and extra long handles for easy carrying. You'll find them at my online gift shop: SUSAN FAYE ORIGINALS along with other fine CAT LADY giftware.
