Cat Lady No. 212...A Martha Kind of Day

In honor of Cat Lady Martha's birthday today, Cat Lady Genevive did not bake tiramisu cupcakes from scratch, did not re-pot her dahlias, did not make organic compost tea, did not design a designer photo album, did not make a fruit salad inside a watermelon rind, and did not run a business empire the size of a small kingdom.

But what Cat Lady Genevive DID do in honor of her favorite Domestic Godesses' birthday was to make this charming felt catnip mouse for her cat companion Ziegfried. All by hand. And with organic catnip.

Ziegfried couldn't be happier. It's a good thing.

Cat Lady No. 211...Let it Snow

Cat Lady Helga is a prize-winning snow sculptor and especially enjoys sculpting likenesses of tabby cat Heidi. But snow pets will have to wait, because today in Toronto it was a beautiful summer day at 80 degrees without a flake of snow in sight.

In the mean time Helga and Heidi are content to enjoy photos of previous masterpieces created by the Canadian Snow Sculpture Team while they dream of winter wonderlands to come...

Stop using up and throwing away plastic or styrofoam cups at the office or workplace. Be stylish and eco-friendly with a re-usable ceramic mug. I have dozens of designs to choose from: Susan Faye Mugs

You can find many more great gift items featuring Helga and Heidi in my Cafepress shop: Let It Snow No. 3

Cat Lady No. 210...Announcing A Trio of Winners

Mermaid Lillithina and her pet cat fish Mergatroid would like to take time out from their fun game of "starfish keepaway" to announce the winners of the 365 Cat Ladies Fun and Games Giveaway for July.

Forty-six cats and/or cat ladies left comments about their favorite cat games and three were pic
ked at random. Here are their entries:

Angus Mhor said: "Angus is a champ at Shanghai from the Shadows-he'll lie in wait, invisible, silent. Then, as you pass by his lair, he'll SPRING! Forepaws aloft, all 14 front toes spread for maximum contact, and GOTCHA! Right on the back of the legs. Then, sit down and listen to the squeals! Rewind and repeat!"

Kitty said: "3 of our cats - Harry, Allie and Murray love to play chase with the Sophie our dog. They run from one end of the house to the other and if Sophie stops, they all just leap over her. She's a Shih Tzu, so they're all about the same size."

And Sal's Girl said
: "My black and white cat--Fast Edie--loves to play Sheet Sharks. She hides under the sheet and we pat her and she chases our hands or we hide our hands under the sheets and she chases them!"

Each has won a "Peaceable Kingdom matted print from my Etsy
shop. Winners, please send me your address and let me know which one you would like-- with or without the caption. Congratulations to all!

Cat Lady No. 209...Kitty Stitches

Cat Lady Julie has recently graduated from the basic knit and purl to some more advanced knitted lace patterns. They require focus, concentration, and an occasional neck massage from her knitting buddy Miss Mirelda.

Two new patterns that Julie can't wait to try are the Cat's Paw/Crown of Glory and the Cat's Eye .

Miss Mirelda can't wait to have a sweater in each...

Cat Lady No. 208...Leftover Balls of Yarn

Cat Lady Nancy just found a new knitting pattern that she can't wait to try out, because she thinks it will be a good way to use up all of the leftover balls of yarn that are stashed away in the closet...

It's a pattern for colorful socks called "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" courtesy of the Yarn Harlot, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, who learned how to knit at the age of 4 and has written several humorous books on the subject of knitting and knitters.

Nancy's feline friend Muppet happens to be an expert on leftover balls of yarn and just looks on in amusement. Muppet knows that no matter how hard Nancy tries to use up leftover balls of yarn, it's an exercise in futility. Because, as any expert knows, they simply multiply in the closet, late at night, and only cats can hear the soft rustling in the darkness...

Cat Lady No. 207...Secrets To A Happy Home

The reason that the home of Cat Lady Clara and Sharkie is such a happy one? Probably the steady supply of choice, home grown catnip from terrific tiger cat Big Poon.

Clara buys directly from Big Poon himself, by visiting Sirius Sunlight Glass Studio in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Every penny from the sale of the catnip is donated to the Iowa County Humane Society. Big Poon has donated nearly $3000 so far.

If you don't happen to be in the neighborhood, you can buy Big Poon's Very Best Fine Home Grown Catnip by mail order.

Your home will be happy that you did.

Thanks for visiting!

Cat Lady No. 206...When You're Hot, You're Hot

Cat Lady Sian can't imagine what it must be like to be stuck inside of a fur coat when temperatures soar.

Her feline friends Phoebe and Georgie, however, can tell you that it is miserable.

So when the thermometer hits SCORCHING, Sian follows three simple rules that she learned from The Cat's Meow blog:
Hydrate,
Furminate,
and Educate...

In return, Phoebe and Georgie will happily snuggle up and let Sian enjoy their warm fur coats on those chilly, damp evenings in winter that surely lie ahead...

Thanks for visiting!
