Cat Lady No. 262...Happy Equinox!

Garden Fairy Zuzana and her winged cat Fafner have been very busy today celebrating the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.

As part of the celebration, they get to paint as many leaves as they can with their favorite colors: gold, rust, burgundy and crimson.

Their counterparts in the Southern Hemisphere are celebrating the equinox in a different way today: they are overseeing the blossoming of Springtime.

Cat Lady No.172...Salsa!

Garden Enthusiast Lupe enjoys growing prize roses with the help of Garden Cat Sarafina. But this year she is trying something new: growing a Salsa Garden.

Inspired by the White House's new garden, Lupe has torn out the grass in her little back yard and is planting tomatoes, chile peppers, bell peppers, cilantro, tomatillos and onions--all of the ingredients necessary for her favorite salsas.

Cat Lady No. 12...Late Bloomers

Cat Lady Billi and Rose Garden Cat Florabunda are delighted to find three late bloomers in the back yard greenhouse, on an otherwise drizzly winter day.

An avid green thumb, Billi enjoys living in Portland, Oregon, The City of Roses, which is also known as being one of the Greenest cities in the world.

Billi asks Florabunda, "Did you know that Portland is the first city in the U.S. to enact a comprehensive plan to reduce CO2 emissions?" Not surprised, Florabunda also knows that the city boasts a wonderful system of light rail, buses, and bike lanes to help keep cars off the roads. Billi and Florabunda often enjoy the city's 92,000 acres of green space and more than 74 miles of hiking, running, and biking trails....
