Cat Lady Johanna is just crazy for pearls, pastels, and Peachy Keen, her ginger-peach-orange-marmalade tabby cat.
Johanna and Peachy are city girls and a bit pampered, but Peachy sometimes longs for just one sunny afternoon of frolicking through wind-blown wild grasses where flitting and skittering things might be lurking.
Her favorite blog is written by The Ginger Darlings, Elmo, Maurice, and Pixie--three lucky ginger cats who live in the countryside of St. Davids, Pembrokeshire, Wales. You can enjoy their cat tales here: wethreecats.blogspot.com.
They have fabulous adventures and then sleep a lot. Their Cat Lady has been busy illustrating what looks to be a fabulous story book and you can find out more here: Starlight, Starbright
Thanks for visiting!
Johanna and Peachy Keen can be found on a variety of Valentine postcards (pictured), note cards, postcards, t-shirts and other gifts at: www.cafepress.com/SusanFaye

Cat Lady No. 30...Phantom Cat
Carlotta the Cat Lady of Larkspur Lane is shown here enjoying a chance visit from Mystery Cat Phantom. This snowy white cat can often be seen roaming the village at night and is most visible during a full moon.
As fate would have it, Carlotta loves to tell ghost stories, and Phantom often scratches at her back door at the stroke of midnight, hoping for a bowl of warm cream and a frightfully good story.
Tonight's story is about D.C. (short for Demon Cat), a mysterious cat that haunts Capitol Hill. As legend has it, D.C. emerges from the shadows, its creepy eyes glowing, any time a national disaster is looming; for example, sightings were reported before the stock market crash of 1929.
Want to know more? This article, by Jill Stefko, will tell you more...BLACK CAT HAUNTS CAPITOL BUILDING
Carlotta and Phantom hope that nice Mr. President Obama steers clear of this character. He already has enough scary things to deal with!
Would you like a Custom Cat Lady Portrait? ...A one-of-a-kind and very affordable gift for any cat lover...For pricing and options, please visit my Etsy online gallery by clicking here: CUSTOM CAT LADIES

Cat Lady No. 29...Queen of Cupcakes
Cat Mom and Gourmet Cupcake Baker Stacie has one husband, a golden Retriever, four spoiled rotten kitties, and is the proprietor of Sugar Dreams Bakery. Her cat story spans 8 years:
“Yep, all my children have paws, and I happily call them my furbabies!
“The oldest is Orie and my mom and I adopted him two days before Christmas in 2000... We had just lost my father to cancer only nine days earlier, and we needed to have some fluffy comfort at an extremely hard time in our lives--Orie more than filled that need.
"Orie was picked because he was the only one of two black kittens who had a paper collar on, and he was majorly interested in my fingers. This paper collar identified the kitten as 'Venus“, a female kitten. At this point in my career as a kitty mom, I had no idea how to detect whether a kitten was male or female (I definitely do now!), so I believed them until my vet told me otherwise. So, Venus became Orion because I wanted to keep his name as close to astrological as possible.
"Harley is my second oldest cat at seven years of age. Harley was adopted from the same humane society that Orie was, and his name came from being behind a Harley Davidson when we were on the way home with the little bundle of fluff. Harley is a man-lover! He flirts, purrs, and rubs on any male that enters our home (mostly ignoring the females). Yep, Harley loves me, but he loves his guys!
"Leah (either two or three years old) was adopted from a humane society that rescued cats from kill shelters. She is one of the strangest cats I've ever had! She is obsessed with the ice maker in the fridge...whenever we get water from it, she has to be RIGHT THERE to see and play with the water that may or may not drip from the faucet. She also lays across a hole on one of our cat trees that allows for her belly to hang below whilst the rest of her is happily lying above...she'll lay like that for hours!
"Harrison is my baby (currently ten months old), and the most spoiled cat in the household. He was adopted from a specialty no-kill cat shelter. When I adopted Harrison (they had named him Harry...blech), I was looking for a kitty that would be all lovey dovey yet playful since my other guys were either too lazy, didn't like to be a lap cat, or were just plain bored with the idea of chasing a tinkling ball around. Harrison filled this void so well! He's extremely playful, loves to lay with you (or on you), has a motor that you can hear in the next room, and is a raging mass of fur!
"So, there's a little bit about my lovely kitties. They have brought me countless moments of happy memories, and I hold every one of them in a special place in my heart. "
Stacie's scrumptious baked goods are available by mail order and she is currently having a Cookie Sale! Don't miss out:

Cat Lady No. 28...Flower Power
A former 60s Flower Child, Cat Lady Veronique still believes in Flower Power to this day. She and Mom Cat Violetta are introducing little Chaton Chauncy to the beauty of purple asters for the very first time today.
Veronique particularly enjoys her groovy greenhouse where she sits in her lawn chair each morning to enjoy her chamomile tea with honey and experience Peace, Love and Serenity amidst the glorious blooms, usually with a cat or two on her lap. It's her favorite kind of Sit-In!

Cat Lady No. 27...Cat Waltzing Society
Cat Lady Rhonda and dance partner Mr. Jeepers are great fans of the latest rage at the ballroom: Cat Waltzing. Like other enthusiasts, they simply cannot resist sashaying around the living room in 3/4 time whenever they hear the opening chords of a waltz.
Mr Jeepers' favorite waltz tune is The Waltzing Cat by Leroy Anderson. Many people don't know that there are lyrics to this waltz, written in 1950 by Mitchell Parish:
There once was a tomcat, a wonderful tomcat,
who had all the usual faults,
But this cat was different, what made him so different
was his inclination to waltz.
Each night this feline Sir to his lady fair would purr:
(CHORUS)
I love to waltz (meow)
On a night like this with stars in the skies,
Come, let us waltz (meow)
While I look into your lovely green eyes.
I never knew what a little waltz could do,
Till the night I danced with you,
Lightly as a feather, let us pussy foot together,
I'd love to spend (meow) all my nine lives just waltzing with you.
Send me your Cat Lady story: If I use exerpts from it in this blog, you will receive a free Susan Faye Cat Lady Refrigerator Magnet. Send to: art@undertheoaks.net with "Cat Lady" in the subject line.
A delightful selection of Cat Lady apparel suitable for Cat Waltzing can be found at: www.cafepress.com/SusanFaye.

Cat Lady No. 26...Well-Groomed
Feline Fanatic April and her handsome Himalayan Rochester hope to win Best of Show in the regional Cat Show this weekend.
Rochester loves to be groomed, which is a good thing, because April faithfully brushes and combs his thick and silky fur each and every day, wearing her personal Cat Grooming Apron pictured below. Rochester is less enthusiastic about the weekly baths, but enjoys being fluffed up with the warm hair dryer at the end.
April is inspired by her favorite domestic goddess Martha who owns seven Himalayan cats named after composers. ''They are friendly and affectionate but not demanding; they are quiet and easy to care for; and they get along well with people and other animals,'' Ms. Stewart wrote about her cats in the ''Ask Martha'' section of her Martha Stewart Living magazine in February 1999.
April would love to have that many Himalayan cats, but only if she too had a personal grooming staff. Rochester thinks that one Himalayan is more than enough for any household...
The purr-fect Cat Grooming Apron comes with your choice of over 100 different cat ladies. Ties at neck and waist. Two center-stitched bottom compartment pouches for keeping tools handy. 35% Cotton / 65% polyester blend, twill fabric. Machine washable and guaranteed.
Available at: Susan Faye Cat Lady Aprons

Cat Lady No. 25...Cloud Watching
Cat Lady Michelle enjoys watching clouds float by with her best friend Boots by her side. She can recite all of the different kinds to him:
Cumulus Congestus, Swelling Cumulus, Cumulus of Fairweather, Cirrostratus, Altostratus, Stratus, Cirrocumulus, Stratocumulus, Cirrus, Cumulonimbus, and Nimbostratus. Boots enjoys hearing the names roll off of her tongue and they always make her laugh.
If you would like to see pictures of these clouds, plus more information, visit Michelle's favorite website: Cloudman.com
Boots has a purrsonal favorite: the Lenticular cloud, a type of Altocumulus formation that looks just like an alien space ship!

Cat Lady No. 22...Calico Crazed
Cat Lady and Maryland Resident Veronica is crazy about Calicos, and tricolor beauty Babs knows it! Veronica was particularly pleased when the entire state came around to her way of thinking...
According to the Maryland Manual Online:
"Effective October 1, 2001, the calico cat became the official cat of Maryland (Chapter 194, Acts of 2001; Code State Government Article, sec. 13-317). Its colors of orange, black, and white are shared with the Baltimore oriole (State bird) and the Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly (State insect). "
It further states: "A calico cat must be a tri-color, with its three colors in distinct patches, not mixed as in a tortoiseshell cat. To be a true tri-color, a calico cat's colors must be: white; red or cream; and black, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, or fawn. "
Babs isn't concerned with all of that (although to her recollection, she's never met a lilac cat and seriously questions their exsistence...); she's just happy that she matches her Cat Lady's beautiful red hair!

Chief always loves a parade, particularly the marching bands. Needless to say, his chest swells with pride whenever a band plays "Hail To The Chief", but he doesn't quite understand why Robbi doesn't rise to salute him ...

Cat Lady No. 19...Let's Party!
Cat Lady Darshana and feline friend Damini always enjoy a good birthday party, especially when it involves confetti and balloons.
Today the confetti is flying in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. As an American whose grandparents were immigrants from India, Darshana greatly admires the work of Dr. King. He reminds her of another great hero of hers: Mahatma Gandhi, who also was a man of great vision and inspiration. As Darshana tells Damini: "Both men believed in peaceful resistance to tyranny and were able to accomplish great things for humankind using this principle. In India this principle is called satyagraha, a word coined by Ghandi to mean truth-force or love-force or soul-force."
Damini appreciates the history lesson, but thinks it's time to break out the birthday cake and tuna. This party animal wants to party!

Cat Lady No. 18...Tomorrow Is A Day of Service
Cat Lady Tina and her gray tabby cat Dusty often enjoy taking naps in the afternoon. But tomorrow on Monday, January 19, they won't be napping. They will be taking part in the National Day of Service as a way to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Tina went to this website: usaservice.org
where there is a handy event finder to help you find service projects in your community. There is something for everybody--food drives, community clean-up, conservation projects, youth programs, and more.
Tina and Dusty will be collecting warm coats and blankets for the homeless, whose numbers have been increasing in their community recently. Dusty is very proud of his handsome and strikingly striped fur coat and the recent sub-zero temperatures have made both he and Tina grateful for their warm coats. Tomorrow they will not only share warm coats, but warm hearts also...

Cat Lady No. 17...Teacher's Pet
After graduating from Michigan State University, Cat Lady Dayna spent the entire summer looking for a teaching job. Finally, just weeks before fall, she got a great job (which she still has!).
Most of her friends were buying Monte Carlos or going crazy with clothes with their first pay checks...But all Dayna wanted was a cat. Her Mom wouldn't let her have one growing up, so on the very same day that she got her first pay check, she went to a shelter and picked out a little gray and white cat. She and hubby Robert named him Mercury because he was the same color as their car (a Mercury sedan).
Mercury was convinced he was a dog...Always loyal, he would come when called and he loved to cuddle. And every very night he faithfully watched over the kids as they slept.
Mercury was a beloved member of his family for 13 years and will always be remembered with great fondness and love...

Cat Lady No. 16...Terrific Tabby Tamer
What could be more fun than an armful of tiger kittens?
Cat Lady Tanya has her hands full with Cat Mom Tabitha and her litter of tabby kittens, just adopted from the local shelter. As Tanya often says, "Don't delay, neuter or spay"... Luckily for these kittens, Tanya will lovingly care for them until each one has a new home.
Out of curiosity, Tanya looked up "Tabby" on the internet, and was surprised to learn that Tabby doesn't refer to a breed of cats, but to the particular pattern of markings on any given cat with stripes or spots. In fact, quite a few recognized breeds include the tabby markings.
And Tanya further discovered that within the category of "Tabby" there are quite a few variations of the patterns with exotic names like "agouti (ticked)", rosetted", "mackerel", "marbled", and "classic".
Tabbies also come in many color variations: brown, blue, red (really more of an orange...), cream or silver.
If you would like to learn more, here is an interesting article that Tanya found:
The Glorious Tabby
Do you know a Tabby Tamer? They just might enjoy a refrigerator magnet from my gift collection. You'll find magnets and other great gift items with this design at my CafePress Gift Shop.

Cat Lady No. 15...A Clutter of Cats
Do you find cats or do they find you? That's a question that Cat Lady Lorinda often asks herself every time another one finds its way to her doorstep...
She learned recently that a grouping of felines is sometimes called a "clutter of cats" and looking around her living room today, she would have to agree there is a bit of a cat clutter... She is currently housing nine refugees, counting the four new kitties that arrived last week: a neighbor found a mama cat and these three beautiful kittens in her garage, so of course she brought them to Lorinda.
Lorinda happily spends her spare time finding homes for all of her "foster felines", after making sure they are neutered and spayed, of course. A great website to find spay and neuter clinics in your area is: www.spayusa.org
In the mean time, Hewey, Dewey, and Lewey and their mom will reward Lorinda with endless antics and purrs and she won't mind the "clutter" at all...
This watercolor painting, called "Three Little Kittens" is available as a limited edition print at my Etsy Online Gallery www.SusanFaye.etsy.com. It arrives in an 11 x 14" matting, ready to frame in a standard size frame...

Cat Lady No. 14...Jenny and Allie
Lap Cat Allie likes nothing better than to curl up with Cat Lady Jenny to hear a good story. With a Master's Degree in Library Science, Jenny loves all things book-, grammar-, and language-related.

When Jenny adopted Allie and moved her into her new home, there was not a mouse in sight! What else could Allie do but play with the beautiful pink flamingo beanie baby which, if pounced on just so, skitters across the floor like a fat little mousie!
The PURRfect way to carry all of your books, or pink flamingos...These 100% cotton canvas tote bags have plenty of room to carry everything you need when you are on the go. They include a bottom gusset and extra long handles for easy carrying. You'll find them at my online gift shop: SUSAN FAYE ORIGINALS along with other fine CAT LADY giftware.

Cat Lady No. 13...Lucky Thirteen
Cat Lady Diedre thinks she's the luckiest gal in the world to have Mystico the Black Cat in her life...She adopted him when he was just 13 weeks old from a shelter on 13th Avenue on the 13th of January exactly 13 years ago. You can't get any luckier than that!
Mystico enjoys hiding in shadows then leaping out to grab Diedre's ankles, without using his claws of course, because it's all in fun. Diedre always shrieks and then laughs hysterically.
Over the centuries, the mysterious black cat has been both revered and reviled...Here is an amusing quiz about some of the curious beliefs and superstitions we have created about black cats: BLACK CAT QUIZ
Send me your Cat Lady story: If I use it in this blog, you will receive a free Susan Faye Cat Lady Refrigerator Magnet. Send to: art@undertheoaks.net with "Cat Lady" in the subject line.

Cat Lady No. 10...Natasha and Princess Pandora
Cat Lady Natasha and Princess Pandora enjoy listening to classical music in front of the fireplace on long winter evenings, and sometimes Natasha tells a story to Pandora.
Pandora's favorite is the one about the first She-cat ever created by the Cat Gods, one so curious that she could never resist reaching inside small, dark places. One day she reached inside a large, dark storage jar hidden away in the basement of one of the lesser Cat Gods. Its label read "Prototype Creepy Crawlies."
The jar was so large that the She-cat reached farther and farther inside but still could not touch the bottom. Suddenly the jar tipped over and out skittered every imaginable kind of cockroach, mouse, and spider. The She-cat grinned and thought "This is the luckiest day of my life".

Cat Lady No. 8...The State Cat of Maine
Cat Lady Nadine believes there's nothing more beautiful than her Maine Coon Tabby Cat, Horatio, even though he's actually from Dover, the capital of Delaware. That's where Nadine found him abandoned in the school yard of the middle school where she teaches Geography.
Today's lesson is about state capitals and Horatio is fascinated to learn that the city of Augusta is the capital of Maine. It seems that Portland was originally chosen as the state capital, but the capital was moved to Augusta in 1832 because Augusta was more centrally located. Furthermore, Portland was considered by some to be too close to the sea and thereby could be attacked more easily (by marauding Cat Pirates? Horatio wonders...).
The Maine Coon is the Official State Cat of Maine, and Horatio hopes to travel there one day to visit the land of his ancestors...

It's only January 6th, but Cat Lady Karina has already broken her New Year's resolution not to eat rocky road ice cream while riding a roller coaster. It was bound to happen, and Calico Katey Kat doesn't mind at all.
Katey Kat, on the other hand, has no trouble keeping her resolution: to be absolutely adorable every single day.

Cat Lady No. 6....Warm Hearts
The "Giving Season" may be over for some, but Cat Lady and knitting enthusiast Marta and KiKi Kitty exercise their generous hearts all year round.
Today they are delivering hand-knitted gifts to patients at a convalescent hospital down the street. KiKi is happy to donate her favorite polka dot scarf if it means getting scratched behind the ear by an adoring recipient.
Tomorrow they will collect unused blankets and warm coats from neighbors and donate them to a homeless shelter downtown. Marta's and KiKi's warm hearts keep them toasty as they walk all the way home through a magical snowfall...

Cat Lady No. 5...Back to School
Winter Break has ended and it's time to hit the books again. College student and Cat Lady Sara is already studying for Friday's Biology exam with help from Library Cat Dexter.
Dexter is fascinated to learn that there is such a thing as a single-celled organism, but is impatient and wants to skip ahead to the chapter on Highly-Independent-Tuna-Loving and Elegantly-Whiskered Small Mammals.
Sara carries all of her books - and groceries too - in an eco-friendly reusable cotton tote bag. You can do the same. You'll find her image and many more on tote bags at my Cafepress Gift Shop. Click here to see the complete selection: TOTE BAGS

CAT LADY No. 3...Empty Nest
Her last chick just flew the coop this morning, heading out for college, but Cat Lady Loreena won't suffer from an empty nest as long as she has Tuxedo Tillie at her side. Together they will enjoy bird watching, gardening, and an occasional game of hide and seek. Not to mention long, luxurious bubble baths for Loreena while Tillie sits on the bathtub's edge and taps the bubbles cautiously with her paw, on the alert for the stray goldfish or tuna that might be lurking beneath the foamy brine.
