Cat Ladies and Lads In The News

Laff it up with Pride and Joy: The Itteh Bitteh Book of Kittehs by the I Can Has Cheezburger LOLcat folks makes its debut in bookstores tomorrow and features none other than one of Crazy Cat Lady Carm's photos of Maine Coon Cat Joy and her baby Pride (he's all grown up now)!! The 7GR8Cats have received an advance copy, and you can read their book review here: Coming to A Bookstore Near You

Feline Fella Paul recently became Lead Scientist for Planetary Small Bodies at NASA Johnson. I'm not sure, but do cats count as "planetary small bodies"? If so, Paul and Cat Lady Amy have quite a few little orbiters as you can see by their portrait...Congratulations, Paul!

CBS Sunday Morning recently interviewed and filmed Cat Lady Kate of Moderncat for an upcoming segment on their show! Kate will let us know the airdate as soon as she knows...Here are some glimpses behind the scenes: Sneak Peek

Cat Lady Deb is giving a talk today at Paddy's Pacelli High School about St Francis of Assisi, because today is the day that Catholics and animal lovers celebrate the feast of St. Francis. Thousands around the world will have their pets blessed today in the spirit of this patron saint of animals. His beautiful prayer speaks to all of us, no matter what our denomination or belief system and it is one of my favorites:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Susan, how kind of you to mention Paul!

This weekend, I took a little kitty on a flight -- not on a rocket, though! We had trapped a new stray kitten in Texas, and I had a friend on the east coast who had recently lost a cat and was looking for a new addition. I flew her in the cabin with me, and both human and kitten were quite stressed out. But she's in her new forever home, so it all worked out!
