Redheaded Cat Lady Lucia adores her matching cat, Rachel.
Whatever you want to call it: redhead, carrot top, titian, auburn, or in the case of Rachel: ginger, marmalade, red or orange...they both agree that it is very special to have gloriously coppery flame-colored tresses, or fur, whichever the case may be.
It is characterized by high levels of the reddish pigment pheomelin and relatively low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin. Approximately 1% to 2% of the human population has red hair. Statistics are not in yet for the cat population.
