If your cat goes by the name of Cinders, Inky, Shadow, Silhouette, Licorice, or Spooky, chances are you are the devoted caretaker of a black cat.
Contrary to popular folk lore, I've never met a black cat who wasn't a sweetie pie. I suppose there are exceptions out there...
Black cats are popping up everywhere this time of year, and a few new ones have popped up in my online Etsy shop in the form of matted prints, glass earrings, and pendants. Click on an image to find out more about that particular item.
What is your favorite name for a black cat? Let us know in the Comments section at the end of the post... Thanks for visiting!
You'll also find original mini watercolor paintings featuring black cats and their bewitching friends in my Etsy Shop...
There are so many great names for black cats. I used to have one named Panther, a DSH kitten. I'm currently fostering a big black DSH I've named Blackberry. He's a great cat and just full of personality. I call him my old warrior. And he talks a lot! :-)
ReplyDeleteCute items and love the black cat names.
ReplyDeleteAround here, the shelters and rescue groups will not adopt out any black cat during the month of October. Had some problems back a while.
Cats and Dogs, Yay!
Mean People, Boo!

Good morning Susan Faye! First, to answer your question concerning a favorite name for a black cat. My first black cat was named Kitty Belle, she was adorable, loving when she chose to be, and a sweetie that I'll forever miss.
ReplyDeleteWe now live on a farm, back in a "holler," and stray cats often find our barns - usually when they are pregnant. : ) (my husband says word is out that I live here and will take them in) One of our litters produced a little black kitten amongst others of a variety of colors. We were able to give each away to a loving family with the exception of the little black kitty who would not let us catch her.
As time went by, we knew she'd have to have a name (and get caught so that we could have her fixed and get her shots), so we call her "D" which is short for "Determined To Stay." She has grown into the sweetest dossle lovable cat and we celebrate her decision to stay with us for her lifetime.
Secondly, may I say, that it's good to find your web site. Love your art and your plants. I am quickly approaching 60 and determined (as "D" was) to finally do something of worth with my art. Therefore, I am searching down others to be my inspiration on this new journey. You are now "Bookmarked."
Smiling,
Leigh

Hi Leigh--I'm right behind you at 55...There's no time like the present when it comes to creative self-expression and art! Your artwork is beautiful. And thanks for the story about "D"--who proves that determination is a good thing!
