  2. Tee hee! I debated what number to vote for since I have 6 kitties that own me, but always have more of them in the house due to my fostering! Right now, we are at 12 with my 6 rescue kittens.
There is no doubt that I am a certified CCL (and very happy with that title!)!
    Purrs,

  4. Ode to My Cats

When I gave Tommy his bottles little did I know His 1 a.m. feedings he's Never outgrow, He still gets me up for a soft pac o'fish, and please oh please his favorite China dish! Little did I know that now there'd be 3, three dishes, 3 brushes, 3 potties for ME! And then theres the ferals who come for a meal, then hang around for my heart to steal. So outside I go, come rain, wind or snow, to make sure the Hotels are heated 'just so'. My life is filled with kitty cat fur, and I live to hear the kitty cats purr.

Thank 4 letting me share. I hope I win! loryia.bond@gmail.com

  5. It only takes 1 crazy cat to make me a CCL but I have 2! Actually, I qualify as a CCL because I'm crazy about cats, even though I can only have two where I live. LOVE the kitties!

  7. Currently I have just two wee whiskered ones warming themselves on my sofa each night. One a sweet Manx that is sure the computer is her's, the other a dainty doll that loves a nice bubble bath. I would be crazy not to be crazy for them!

Just love your Let it Snow Cat Ladies! Wonderful colors.

  8. I think it's all about attitude, or (CAT-itude)and not numbers. You don't need 10 or 20 to be a CCL. It only takes one, and a great love for cats. I helped found, and volunteer for a cat rescue. One of my favorite jobs is to take the rescued cats photos and post them to our adoption website. I have over 1200 cat photos on my computer that have all found homes due in part to my work. I also write a column for the local paper called "Kitty Corner". Your artwork is lovely, keep up the good work. Rose

  9. My qualifications for CCL:

I lie about how many cats I have and never include Garage Cat in the tally.

    I'm crazy.

I'm rarely more than an arm's length from a purring ball of fur.

I do not go to animal shelters because I would come home with another half dozen cats.

I don't go on vacation because my Siamese suffers from severe separation anxiety.

All of my cats (except the aforementioned Garage Cat) have their own blogs.

I dress up my cats in cute outfits and photograph them.

No kids. And I was a spinster for 46 years.

I have conversations with my cats.

  10. I've been crazy about cats all my life from the time I and my first kitten named Bitzy. I have two boys now who are good mousers when outside! Boo, my tabby boy, lost his fur mommy 8/20/08 and he was so lonely and sad. Last Oct, I started going out on the porch to talk to the little black stray I was feeding. I trapped him Oct 10. took to our Snip House, he was neutered and I brought him home that night. Put him in shop for two days so he could heal with food, water, blankets, and litter box. Then my husband turned him loose. All winter I'd go out on the front porch, say "are you there"? Tiny meow "yes", and I'd talk back in his language. Slowly he got so he'd stay in sight and visit. Got within 20ft of him in Feb. and got a picture of him sitting in sun outside his hidey hole! He chose under the tongue of our trailer home it is covered with carpeting and snug. Apr. 4th was the miracle day - as I put food in his dish, he came toward me, I'd been calling him with come on come on, did it then, and he came! He let me touch him! Would walk off, come when I called him back. I sat on the steps, he came and I started combing, brushing, holding him, and kissing him and just loving him for two solid hours. Yes, a miracle, My Shadow decided to take me as his mommy. Two nights later he elected to come inside, ate & slept inside and has done so every night since. He and Boo are best of friends now, eat, sleep, and are now playing together. Shadow is the cutest, sweetest little boy and he is so thankful for his forever home. He lets me know all the time. Once in a while he forgets and is too rough and scratches or nails me. Then he is so sorry.
I also volunteer at our local Humane Society of The Ochocos in Prineville, OR. I can't do physical things, so I'm allowed to just come and love all the cats. Take treats and new toys. I do help by cleaning some litter boxes at times. I really enjoy it and it has been good for me. I had a stroke last Dec. and so the cats at the shelter and Shadow got me back to life and they give me a good reason to keep going. I fostered a 4 wk old black baby my neighbor found in July. I took him to our shelter to register him and became his foster mommy. I named him Little Honcho. I learned the hard way I can't foster. Honchy was here in this small room with me for five weeks and we played, talked, loved. He suckled my neck from the first week, he really took me for his mom. When He weighed 2Lb. 18 oz, I took him to the shelter and surrendered him. He was neutered shortly and I am able to go see him whenever I can and hold and love him. He still suckled my neck at first, now he is too big but he smooches and kisses all over my face and we just love and love and love. He is, of course up for adoption. We had so many black kittens this fall, so many to choose from. He is a personality plus and I want so much for someone to come and love him like I do. He is listed on the Adoptable Pets at our shelter The Humane Society of the Ochocos, Prineville, OR. I would have kept him gladly, my husband says no. It was hard on Boo especially, he had accepted Shadow, but Honchy was too much. He's ok now, but it was hard for him, because I guess he knew how much I loved Honchy & was jealous. So he and Shadow got extra attention to help them adjust. Also our home is too small for another cat, Honchy has to be an indoor only cat and my boys are indoor/outdoor - they can come and go thru cat door daylight hours, with us keeping an eye on them, they must come in at sundown. Both usually come on their own now - Shadow taught Boo that!! Sorry this is so long, but this is my story, I told you I was a crazy cat lady didn'tI?

  11. How about a crazy dog AND cat lady? And do foster cats count? We have a wonderful house full of furkids.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well, I don't think it's how many cats you have (although that speaks for itself) but how much you love cats, and I do.
If I could have more cats, I definately would add at least two more to my cat family of only one. I did have two for over a year, but my darling Calico, Squeakers, went to the Rainbow Bridge on December 6, 2008. She was only 5 1/2 years old, but she had kidney problems. I kind of rescued my beloved Siamese cat, Sandy from death. .. well, sort of. Her owner broke her hip and had to move to the city, with her son and family. Her other son wanted to go out and shoot Sandy! Which to me is the worst thing I've ever heard! So I called the foster lady and she brought me Sandy, the sweetest cat I've ever met! When Squeakers died, I decided that I would study to be a vet assistant, and I am over halfway through my online studies. I have also volunteered at a cats-only shelter.

  13. I rescue and foster cats/kittens. Since adoptions have been slow I have 31 cats and 2 dogs. No need for an electric blanket this winter, I have plenty of cuddly kitties to keep me warm. Now the crazy part is letting them manipulate me 24/7. Ever notice the word 'cat' is in the word 'cater'?

  14. me, me too. I am a crazy cat lady. I started loving cats when i was a tiny girl. I draw them, i have done fostering of tiny ferals; wherever I go, i take photos of cats, and although i currently have 4; I believe you don't need to OWN any cats to be a crazy cat lady. I also have cat jewelry, a cat jacket and two cat sweatshirts. there is a cat on my wallet. My favorite internet name has TABBY in it.

  16. I would rather stay home with my cats than go on most dates. SPINSTER AND CRAZY CAT LADY-NESS, HERE I COME!

  17. True that it's not the number of cats you have at home, but the way you love them that makes a ccl. I have three furries now. My youngest rides with me when I travel by RV. He sits on my lap with his head resting on my arm. from there he watches the world go by. I couldn't ask for a better travel companion.

  18. I don't think there is a specific number. It's like asking how many cats is too many? It's about the person not the number of cats.

That said I don't think of the title as an insult but a compliment.

Right now I have 5 living with me, my mom and brother but at one point we had as many as 12 as we had rescues coming in.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well, I think I qualify as a CCL - I currently have 5, and I'm also taking care of stray and trying to find her a home. I attract strays, so I know that qualifies - LOL!

  20. I think I've long surpassed crazy cat lady! Is it a legit term if you take in special needs furbabies? Regardless, I have lovely little creatures who fill my life with much happiness and loads of love!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've been called a cat lady for several reasons. Either because I specialize in making cat sculptures and drawings, I LOVE cats, and because I own cats. I don't think you even have to have a cat to be a crazy cat lady. all you need is love these wonderful creatures and dedicate a fair part of your life to their betterment even if it's just filling your home with cat stuff so that your friends are always aware of how wonderful cats are. After all like a friend told me. Our hearts are linked by paw prints.

  22. I have one kitty living with a friend due to allergies (Arggg), but I am thinking of the sweet secretary at my school. She takes in strays and unwanted kitties and finds them loving homes. I find her to be amazing and generous and would love to win these bags for her. :)www.idas4some.blogspot.com

  23. Why am I a Crazy Cat Lady? I have 15 loving furbabies, that daily give me a reason to get up!! I vacuum around their sleeping schedule. Basically I take care of their home and they allow me to live with them.
My husband totally agrees that I am a CCL!!

  24. I have 4 cats currently and plan to add another. I had at one time 17, 12 were barn cats and trips to the vet for fixing them and shots was enough to be declared a CCL! I love cats and could not imagine life without them. http://www.catster.com/cats/1043338

  27. At present I live with 12 wonderful kitties that inspire and amuse me every day. The youngest is 2 and the oldest is 19. I cant imagine not having them around. Cats are what my artwork revolves around, whether I am doing a painting or creating a cartoon its always about the CAT.

  28. Golly, after reading all the great stories and comments, I don't have a chance. I have 5 cats, all were orphans. They all help me make catnip toys and kitty quilts I sell on Etsy. At any one given time I will have one cat on my shoulders, one cat laying on the ironing board, one cat sleeping by the sewing machine and sometimes one cat in my lap. Let me tell you, it is not easy sewing with all my helpers. But I would feel lost without them. We all sleep in the same bed. Sometimes that bed gets pretty crowded. I love each of them differently. I have Mr. Tigger, Yakkie, Pokey, Scooter and the baby Zippy. I am a cat person from the word go. They are my kids. I am definately a CCL!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Everyone already calls me that! I have 5 crazy cats that I love like children.

  30. I have been a certified CCL since I was old enough to say the word "kitty" (it may have been my first word)! My mom recalled all the times I'd come home with scratches all over my arms from trying to pick up feral cats outdoors. As soon as I was old enough to live on my own I began taking in furbabies. Right now my husband and I have only three--a tortie, a tabby, and a calico--all three are rescues, two from our local shelter and one who we found abandoned in the alley behind our house. They are doted on by us both. I was lucky enough to marry a cat-loving man, so our home will always be open to more little bundles of fur-joy.

  31. "How Many Cats Does It Take to Make You a Crazy Cat Lady?"

It's not so much the number of cats that qualifies one as a "Crazy Cat Lady", but the level of indulgence bestowed on the feline(s). Someone who dotes on a single cat, indulges their kitty's every whim and regards him or her as an indispensable member of the family, is more deserving of the esteemed title "Crazy Cat Lady" than an animal hoarder who may have dozens of cats but does not provide them with a great quality of life. My mom may seem like a rank amateur with only four cats in our household at the present time, but nearly everyone who knows her believes she is a Crazy Cat Lady, because she makes it clear to one and all that we cats RULE!

  32. My qualifications for a CCL? Can't say I have any, cause I'm not crazy! My eight cats keep me sane. Now if you will excuse me, I must go cater to their every desire....

    Crazy cat lady huh?
Well I have ten cats at the moment, If I had a bigger place and more money my dream would be to open a huge sanctuary where I could give a safe, warm loving home to as many as possible, the more cats the merrier.

  34. I go insane for all things kitty-cat...not my fault. The funny thing is that I didn't get s my first cat until I was 35! Nuts...35 years without proper luvins of the kitties.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I and others call me the cat lady because I have four lovelies of my own plus one feral cat who thinks of my porch as a safe haven off and on and also likes my food. Any cats in the neighborhood find their way to my place. My neighbor has had two cats and they both ended up living at my place as much as theirs. And as soon as one cat disappears, another one comes to take its place. My husband is going to put up a sign at our driveway "Cat Alley."

    ReplyDelete
  36. I know that I'm a crazy cat lady because a couple of weeks ago, my husband bought a cat shaped sign that stated "THAT'S MS. CRAZY CAT LADY TO YOU" and hung it on the entrance door to our home. I couldn't be more proud, and neither can my eleven furbabies!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love this and would love a tote. I belong to a club on SPP facebook, called Crazy Cat Lady Club. I really am crazy about kitties. We have four in our house, all with their own unique personalities. Love your blog!

I have often been called the ccl at work. I work with elderly and term ill cats and I share my home with 13 cats and couldn't ever imagine my life without cats. In the past i have taken on many rescue cats, mainly ones with psychological problems through bad treatment, ones that haven't got much time left on this earth and those with brain damage. They too deserve the chance to know love and safety. Cats have so much to give back to us and teach us. Cats are my life and if that makes me a ccl, then so be it. I just like to think my heart is in the right place and give back to them what they give back to us.

  41. I've shared my life with at least one cat since I was 8 years old -- which was a very long time ago. I seriously don't think there's anything crazy about our love for our felines, even though my apartment resembles a playhouse for cats! :-)

  42. I've had a cat almost all of my life. I got my first one before I was five, and after I moved on my own, it was only fitting to welcome two to my family. That was 16 yrs ago and I've had at least two cats at any given time over the last 16 yrs. At present, I've got three beautiful black boys. Two are just over a year old and the other is around 5 mths old. My 11 yr old son rescued him when he was abandoned around 4 wks old. He quickly turned into my lil baby with the feedings and trying to get it to use the litter box. All three of them follow me around the house whatever it is I'm doing. It's a good thing I have a king size bed, it gets full with the three boys and me, and sometimes my son will come and lie with us as well. I take my cats for walks outside on leashes and for car rides and visits to my parents house. If I could have 20 cats I would. I love my babies and completely understand them (I talk to them all the time too). I think therefore I too am a CCL. Love to all the kitties out there.
